Class 8 boy in Karnataka allegedly rapes Class 7 girl , impregnates her

Soon after “child pregnancy” cases were reported in Yadgir and Shivamogga, yet another shocking case has emerged in Karnataka's Bagalkot district, where an eighth-standard student allegedly raped a seventh-standard girl. The girl is now found to be two months pregnant.

Currently, the girl is 16 years old, and the boy is 17 years old. The boy allegedly raped her three times in the government residential school in Ilakal taluk of the Bagalkot district as well as in a nearby field.

A case has been registered under the POCSO Act.

The parents recently became suspicious of the girl and took her to the hospital for examination. The doctors then confirmed that the girl was pregnant.

The police subsequently launched a suo motu investigation and questioned the family, which is when the girl's father filed a complaint.

Shashidhar Kosambe, Member, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR), told SALAR NEWS, "Since the boy is a minor, he will be considered a child in conflict with the law….. The child, who is in legal trouble, has been told to be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Monday. It has also been decided to register a spontaneous case with the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights."
