Doctors at the government hospital in Hatti town delivered a baby with the help of torchlight as electricity failed and there were no backup facilities.

According to reports reaching Salar News, a pregnant woman went into labour during a power outage, forcing the doctors and the medical team to perform the delivery with the help of torchlight.

"The hospital does not have a proper electrical system. There should be an alternative system in case of power outage. It is embarrassing to say that such an incident is happening in town known for its gold mines," Lal Peer, a local resident said.

The hospital staff, however, said that the hospital had a UPS system which was unfortunately not functioning on that day.

In the wake of this incident, there has been a demand that the health department officials take this incident seriously and make appropriate arrangements at the government hospital.
