Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the government would contribute Rs 5 crore towards disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts to flood hit Himachal Pradesh.
In a Sunday post on X, Siddaramaiah shared a 12 Sept letter he penned to his Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, saying that the people of Karnataka stood “shoulder to shoulder with the people of Himachal Pradesh”.
“While we know that no sum can ever truly compensate for the human and material losses suffered, it is our earnest hope that this assistance will bring some immediate relief to the affected families,” he said in the letter.
“We are confident that, under your leadership, the state will emerge from this tragedy with renewed strength and resolve,” SIddaramaiah wrote to his fellow Congressman.
At least 300 people died in the recent flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, while hundreds others died in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana. However, Siddaramaiah didn’t allocate any funds to the other states and the UT, which are ruled by AAP, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference and BJP respectively.
