BIDAR, 13 Sept 

A 25-year-old woman, identified as Radha, has been arrested for allegedly pushing her seven-year-old stepdaughter, Sanvi, to her death from a three-storey building on 27 August in Bidar.

The incident, reported initially as accidental by Sanvi’s father Siddhant, came to light after CCTV footage from a neighbour’s house surfaced. The video reportedly shows Radha placing a chair and an inverted bucket on the terrace, making the child stand on it, and then pushing her off.

Sanvi’s grandmother, Vijayashree Suresh Toogamve, has alleged that Radha harboured animosity towards the child and lied about her whereabouts during the tragedy.

Sanvi’s biological mother had died of illness six years ago, after which Siddhant remarried Radha in 2023. The couple has twin children together.

The Gandhiganj Police have arrested Radha under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and produced her before the court.
