11 Rakshana Vedike members held for smearing ink on official
The arrested activists protested the removal of a Kannada signboard by smearing ink on city officials, prompting police to file a case against over 20 people.

Kalaburagi, 19 Sept
Eleven Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists were arrested after they smeared black ink on Public Works Engineer Amin Muktar and Urban Development Authority Commissioner Gangadhar S. Malagi during a protest against the removal of a Kannada nameplate at a shop in the city’s Kanni Market.
Police said a case has been registered against more than 20 activists at Station Bazaar police station. The incident occurred when the protesters, angered by the removal of the Kannada signboard, rushed to the spot and smeared ink on the officials.
Those arrested include Anand Doddamani, 32; Ravindra Saradagi, 30; Raju Mathapathy, 25; Prithvi, 18; Sachin Lokani, 25; Shahila Chavan, 24; Apparao Ketari, 38; Vilas Rathod, 30; Chennaveer Biradaar, 24; Praveen Kattimani, 35; and Maitab Ladlesab, 53.
