South Western Railway launches 51 special trains for Dasara, deploying extra staff, CCTV, and crowd management measures to handle peak passenger rush in Mysuru Division.

To handle the rush of passengers during the Dasara Festival 2025, South Western Railway will operate 51 Special Train Services. These include 11 Unreserved Specials, 27 Express Specials, 3 Temporary Stoppages, 2 Temporary Extensions, and 8 Extensions of Periodicity, connecting Mysuru Division with Bengaluru, Belagavi, Yeshvantpur, Shivamogga Town, Vijayapura, Arsikere, Karaikkudi, Madgaon, Ramanathapuram, Chamarajanagar, Talguppa, and Tirunelveli.


Last year, Mysuru Division recorded 6.91 lakh passengers during Dasara, averaging 69,000 per day and peaking at 1.10 lakh on Dasara Day. With additional trains, officials expect higher numbers this year.


For crowd management, 70 staff members, over 150 RPF and GRP personnel, and 50 CCTV cameras have been deployed. Three ‘May I Help You’ kiosks are set up, with extra staff from SBC and UBL divisions assisting counters and checks. Scouts and Guides will help regulate crowds.


Four TTEs will manage each Foot Over Bridge and subway, while staff with walkie-talkies coordinate with security. Ticketing arrangements include relocated ATVMs, four pre-printed counters, and two new counters at the Divisional Office.


On 2 October, buggy services and parcel loading after 2pm will be suspended.
