Mysuru, 28 Sept
Technical issues have disrupted the ongoing social and
educational survey being conducted by the Backward Classes Commission in
Mysuru, the home district of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Deputy Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy and ZP CEO S
Ukeshkumar made a surprise inspection of villages including Bugathahalli and
Vajamangala on Sunday to assess progress. Their visit comes amid complaints of
server slowdowns, mobile network issues, and data upload problems hampering
enumerators’ efforts.
Launched on 22 September, the survey aims to cover 12.64
lakh families across twin districts, with 10.12 lakh in Mysuru district alone.
However, enumerators have managed to reach only a few thousand families so far,
well behind the target ahead of the 7 October deadline.
Enumerators are using a 60-point mobile app-based
questionnaire to collect socio-economic data. However, locked houses, vacant
rental properties, and residents refusing to share details such as Aadhaar and
ration card numbers are further slowing progress.
Issues with mapping houses via electricity RR numbers and residents relocating after stickers were affixed have also caused confusion.
One enumerator in Gayathripuram told Salar News she manages to cover only one to five houses daily due to reluctance from residents and technical snags. Each enumerator has been assigned 240 houses.
The DC verified that enumerators were going door-to-door and
uploading data. He instructed officials to ensure survey completion by the
deadline. Mysuru Tahsildar Mahesh, TP EO Krishna, BEO Prakash, and others were
present.
MCC Deputy Commissioner (Development) M Dasegowda said steps
are being taken to resolve technical issues in city limits.
