A woman allegedly killed her two daughters before taking her own life in Bettadapura, Periyapatna taluk in Mysuru on Saturday morning, police said.

The deceased, identified as Arabiya Bhanu, in her twenties, is suspected to have slit the throats of her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and her ten-day-old infant before dying by suicide.

According to police, Bhanu’s husband works at a mall in Bengaluru, while she had been staying with the children at her home in Bettadapura.

Initial inquiries suggest she may have taken the drastic step due to a family dispute, though the exact motive is yet to be confirmed. However, sources suggest that she may have taken the extreme step over societal backlash for having girl children.
