10 Bangladeshis get two year jail for illegal stay in Udupi

Udupi court has sentenced 10 Bangladeshi nationals to two years in jail and fined them ₹10,000 each.

Ten Bangladeshi nationals have been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 each for illegally entering and residing in Udupi. The Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court passed the sentence on 8 December, under the jurisdiction of Malpe police station.


The case came to light on the evening of 11 October, 2024, when Malpe police observed seven individuals acting suspiciously with luggage near Malpe Vadabhandeshwar bus stand. Investigations revealed that they had entered India using fake Aadhaar cards and were staying in Hooda, Paduthonse village, Udupi taluk. Further investigation led to the arrest of three additional illegal immigrants.
