A leopard cub was found hidden inside a car on the premises of the Gudibande Police Station in Chikkaballapur district. Around 1:30 PM, a Gudibande constable spotted the cub moving near his residential quarters next to the station.
The constable initially did not intervene, observing whether the cub’s
mother was nearby. However, within a short time, the cub vanished from sight,
prompting the constable to alert other officers. A search was launched for the
animal, said Munikrishna D.H., Circle Inspector.
The cub was later spotted sitting in the back seat of a seized car. Munikrishna noted that the animal appeared exhausted. As people peered through the glass, the cub burrowed under the seat.
Police alerted the Forest Department, which covered the car with a net to prevent escape and prepared to tranquilise the animal for safe capture. The Circle Inspector said the forest authorities will relocate the cub to Bannerghatta National Park.
