Four of a family drown in Karnataka's Shivamogga

Shivamogga, 18 Jan


Four members of a family drowned after slipping into the Bhadra canal near Arabailachi Camp in Shivamogga district on Sunday afternoon.


According to Arabailachi Police Inspector Shivaprasad, the incident occurred when the family had gone to the canal to wash clothes.


One of them reportedly slipped and fell into the water, following which others jumped in one after another in an attempt to rescue the victim and were swept away.


The deceased were identified as Neelabai, 55, her son Ravi Kumar, daughter Shwetha, and son-in-law Parashuram.


Police and emergency services rushed to the spot and conducted rescue operations, retrieving four bodies from the canal. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police said.
