KOPPAL, 13 APRIL
A 24-year-old Hindu woman alleged that a group of 10 people in Koppal beat up her Muslim boyfriend while they were having lunch on the premises of Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).
However, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP)
alleged that the man, Mustafa, was harassing her, and said it was a case of
love jihad.
The VHP
filed a complaint with the Koppal Town Police, alleging that Mustafa was
targeting the Hindu woman after getting her intoxicated.
VHP
district President Dr Sangamesh Hiremath, who filed the complaint, claimed that
thousands of photos and videos were recovered from two mobile phones belonging
to Mustafa.
However,
the woman termed the VHP’s statements as “false and bogus” and filed a
countercomplaint at the same station. She claimed that the VHP members stole
their phones during the encounter on 8 April.
Notably,
this comes after two cases of ‘love jihad’ in Hubbali.
Koppal Town police have filed cases under Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita 126 (2),352, 351 (4) and 190.
