Vijayapura, 15 April
A 48-year-old realtor was shot dead after assailants rammed his vehicle and opened fire in the district, police said. A possible property dispute within the family is suspected as the motive.
The deceased, identified as Raju Kare, owned a farm and was involved in real estate activities.
The incident happened
between 4pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday near Adilabad village, within Vijayapura
Rural Police Station limits.
Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi told reporters, “Most probably, after getting information that the compact utility vehicle was coming, the truck came there and rammed into it.” He added that despite the impact, the victim appeared to have survived the collision due to the vehicle’s sturdy build.
“They removed
the door on the driver’s side, assaulted him with stones, and fired shots,” he
said.
Preliminary findings suggest a family property dispute, but the exact motive is yet to be confirmed. Forensic teams are investigating, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused. Further details will emerge after the FIR is registered and inquiries are complete.
