New Delhi, 4 July
KPCC President BK Hariprasad on Saturday questioned the Centre over the rollout of 20 per cent ethanol-blended petrol, alleging it has caused vehicle breakdowns, reduced mileage and increased maintenance costs.
In a post on X, he claimed motorists across the country were facing widespread problems after the introduction of E20 fuel. Hariprasad alleged that despite higher ethanol blending, the Narendra Modi-led government had not reduced fuel prices, forcing consumers to pay more while receiving lower mileage.
He demanded transparency, scientific evidence and consumer protection for the ethanol-blending programme, urging the Centre to explain why fuel prices have not fallen and address growing concerns raised by vehicle owners.
