A 70-year-old woman was found murdered in a field near Chakarasanahalli village in Kolar district on Tuesday, with the body, suspected murder weapon and the victim’s clothes found in different locations, complicating the investigation and sending shockwaves through the local community.

Vemagal police said that the woman had left home to collect fodder for her cattle from a nearby farm, a routine she followed every day but failed to return, prompting family members to launch a search. They found her lying in a pool of blood in the field.

PSI Sunitha Devi described the crime scene as unusual.

Police ruled out murder for gain as the motive as the victim's gold and silver ornaments were found intact. Investigators are awaiting forensic reports to determine further details.
