Bagalkot, 26 July

One person was injured after a car parked outside a bar exploded in Hipparagi village of Jamkhandi taluk in Bagalkot district on Saturday night.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Goyal Told SALAR NEWS, “The Incident was not caused by a bomb or any explosive device. We have also examined CCTV footage, and no evidence suggesting that a bomb had been placed inside the vehicle has been found.”

The intensity of the blast shattered the vehicle, a Mahindra XUV300, scattering its parts over a wide area. The car was parked by the manager of Yuvraj Wine Shop, Hanumant Sangond.

Goyal further said:” The impact of the explosion was limited to a radius of about 50 to 60 metres. If it had been a bomb blast, the intensity would have been much greater. No one sustained serious injuries. One person suffered minor injuries and has already returned home. The exact cause will be known only after the final forensic report is received.”

According to the preliminary report, the blast appears to have originated near the engine, and may have been caused by the battery or engine-related mechanical issue.
