Mysuru, 3 August
Hundreds of former minister and senior leader Tanveer Sait’s supporters, protested outside his residence in the Narasimharaja assembly segment of Mysuru, angered that he wasn’t given a Cabinet berth. One of his supporters, Tabreez, even attempted suicide by consuming poison during the agitation.
Tabreez was shifted to a private hospital and is undergoing treatment.
But the protesters, which also consisted of Youth Congress activists, demanded that Sait immediately resign as an MLA, alleging that the High Command was ignoring party loyalists and rewarding undeserving leaders.
Supporters of former minister HC Mahadevappa also expressed displeasure that a senior AHINDA leader in the Mysuru region was not given a Cabinet berth, especially given the absence of Siddaramaiah.
