Badami MLA demands ministerial berth, threatens to quit corporation post

Shivannanavar claimed former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had backed his name for a ministerial berth to ensure representation for North Karnataka.

Badami MLA Basavaraj Shivannanavar declared he will resign from the Forest Development Corporation unless he is appointed as a minister. He said, “I met the Chief Minister and told him I will resign from the Forest Development Corporation. He asked me to hold on and said, 'We are considering something. It will work out, please wait'."

Shivannanavar also noted that former chief minister Siddaramaiah strongly advocated for his name to ensure North Karnataka representation. “I saw the news that DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah met the high command in Delhi. I have not called anyone. It is true that Siddaramaiah insisted on my name to ensure regional balance," he stated.

He clarified, “I do not want a corporation post. I have already worked in one and do not need another." The MLA reiterated his demand for a ministerial role, saying, “If I get it, fine. If not, I will resign from the corporation so someone else can have the opportunity. I will share all the details later."

Shivannanavar, a disciplined Congress supporter, is heading to the City. The Karnataka Cabinet expansion has caused discontent among some senior leaders over the selection process.
