MLA AS Ponnanna appointed as Political Secretary to CM

The Virajpet MLA has been given the post of Political Secretary to the Chief Minister with equivalent Cabinet status.

The Karnataka government on Wednesday appointed Congress MLA AS Ponnanna as Political Secretary to Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and the equivalent status of Cabinet minister's status.

Notably, the AICC had earlier named him as the party's nominee for the post of Deputy Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Ponnann was the Legal Advisor to former CM Siddaramaiah and represents the Virajpet Assembly Constituency in Kodagu.

Ponnanna, who was a ministerial aspirant, had expressed displeasure over not being inducted into the Cabinet.

Meanwhile, Prasanna H has been appointed as the concurrent charge of the post of Controller of Examinations, Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), Bengaluru. This comes amid the KPSC recruitment scandal.
