In the wake of the perception that Karnataka police were targeting JD(S) workers, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday asked his party cadre to note down the names of such officers “committing atrocities” during searches.
Kumaraswamy has been alleging that the Congress was looking to blame the alleged sting operations against former chief minister Siddaramaiah on the JD(S), noting that two members had been detained in connection with the case.
Speaking at a presser in New Delhi, he told JD(S) workers not to be afraid of “police officers who are harassing you. Note down the name of the officers who are acting illegally in your house, succumbing to political pressure. Time itself will answer them.”
He said that Congress will have “at most, one more year. Then we ourselves will come to power and settle accounts”. He also noted that Chief Minister DK Shivakumar likes saying that “time will answer everything”.
The JD(S) leader also added that members should “respect the officers who work for the people without violating the law”.
