A disturbing video released by Hamas shows 24-year-old Israeli hostage Evyatar David as a “human skeleton”, visibly emaciated and weak, inside a narrow concrete tunnel. In the footage, David says he hasn’t eaten in days and is seen digging what he believes to be his own grave.


The video, released as ceasefire talks stall and Gaza faces a deepening starvation crisis, also shows images of starving Palestinian children. David and friend Gal Gilboa-Dalal were abducted 7 October, 2023.


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed the video as “Nazi-like abuse”, sparking fresh protests at Tel Aviv’s Hostage Square.
