Washington, 25 Aug

US President Donald Trump attacked leading American media organisations ABC and NBC, claiming they gave him “97 per cent” negative coverage and should therefore have “their licenses revoked”.

“Why is it that ABC and NBC FAKE NEWS, two of the absolute worst and most biased networks anywhere in the World, aren’t paying Millions of Dollars a year in LICENSE FEES?” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“They should lose their Licenses for their unfair coverage of Republicans and/or Conservatives, but at a minimum, they should pay up BIG. Crooked ‘journalism’ should not be rewarded, it should be terminated,” he said.

His anger stemmed from the networks reporting that Trump had a low approval rating, contradictory to the President’s repeated assertions that he had the highest approval rating “ever”.

Trump said the networks were “simply an arm of the Democrat party and should have their licences revoked by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)”.

“They are so biased and untruthful (that they are) an actual threat to our democracy,” he wrote.

Recently, Paramount, the parent company of broadcast network CBS, reached a USD 16 million settlement with Trump over its ‘60 Minute Interview’ with former vice president Kamala Harris. Paramount is also associated with ABC.
