Los Angeles, 25 Sept

An Indian man tracked down and stabbed a registered sex-offender to death on 18 September in the US, according to court documents. He was charged with murder on Monday.

Police said that the accused described the incident as “honestly really fun” and that paedophiles “deserved to die”.

The accused, Varun Suresh, 29, tracked the victim, David Brimmer, 71 to the residence of the victim in Fremont city using California's Megan's Law website. It listed Brimmer as a sex offender who had spent nine years in jail for abusing a child.

Suresh pretended to be public accountant, going door to door, looking for clients.  He first visited a few neighbour’s houses before going to Brimmer’s door.

When Suresh approached the victim’s residence, he shook Brimmer’s hand and said, "I knew I had the right guy".

Brimmer then attempted to escape, but Suresh chased him down to a neighbour’s house nearly two blocks away and stabbed him in the neck.  Suresh asked a critically injured Brimmer to "repent", as he grovelled, before slitting his throat.

Suresh allegedly told police that he had no intention of getting away, and would have called the police himself.

“Everyone hates paedophiles… so like, it should be cool. It should be cool," he said. "It is not your duty to decide whether Heaven will accept them, it’s your duty to send them to the gates."

Police said Suresh showed no remorse. He believes all sex offenders “deserve to die" because they hurt children.

Suresh was previously arrested in 2021 after he left a suspicious bag at Hyatt Place, where Fremont police had shot and killed a suspect in an unrelated incident the previous night.

After his 2021 arrest, Suresh reportedly told police that he believed the CEO of Hyatt Hotels "was a paedophile, that he wanted to kill him and that he was hunting the CEO."
