The US Justice Department on Friday released a limited set of records linked to the sex trafficking investigation of Jeffrey Epstein, falling short of expectations that the files would shed new light on the case or on Epstein’s ties to influential figures.
The records, which include photographs, call logs and interview transcripts, were heavily redacted, with officials confirming that several documents remain withheld under legal exemptions.
The release included a small number of previously known photographs involving Donald Trump, while also featuring unpublished images of Bill Clinton from a decades-old trip associated with Epstein.
The disclosure followed bipartisan legislation mandating the release of most Epstein-related files, amid sustained public pressure over unanswered questions surrounding his 2008 plea deal, the handling of victim complaints and his death in federal custody in 2019.
The Justice Department said it expects to complete its document review and release additional material by the end of the year.
