Airtel outage in India again: Users in Bengaluru, Chennai & other cities suffer

In a message to its customers, Airtel Cares said that the disruption is temporary and that the problem will be resolved soon.

Days after Bharti Airtel experienced a network outage in the Delhi-NCR region, the network went down again in India on Sunday.

This time around, along with the national capital, Airtel users in metro cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata bore the brunt of the outage, with several users reporting difficulties in making or receiving calls.

Other cities that faced outage include Surat and Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Maharashtra’s Mumbai.

In a message to its customers, Airtel Cares said that the disruption is temporary and that the problem will be resolved soon.

“We apologise for the inconvenience. The issue you're facing appears to be due to a temporary connectivity disruption and is expected to be resolved within 1 hour. Once that time has passed, please restart your mobile phone to restore services. Thank you,” the Airtel Cares message read.

Even though the connection was restored in several places by 1 pm on Sunday, several users reported outage even at 4 pm

The last Airtel outage in India was on Monday, 18 Monday, with several users reporting difficulties in making or receiving calls.

The network service tracking website Down Detector showed that the complaints about the Airtel network started around 3.30 pm and peaked about an hour later.

Several Airtel customers, who complained about facing issues with the services, received the same reply from Airtel Cares.

When contacted, an Airtel Spokesperson said, "Our customers from Delhi-NCR are experiencing some voice calling issues for the past hour or so. A significant part of the issue has already been resolved and our engineers are at work to resolve this fully. We deeply regret any inconvenience."
