KALABURAGI, 5 NOV

A man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his wife with a saree and burying her body in a sugarcane field at Bhusnoor village under Nimbarga police limits in Aland taluk, Kalaburagi district.

The deceased, identified as Mashak Bee, 38, of Koralli village, was allegedly murdered by her husband Lalasab Abdul Saab Goundi, 46, following a domestic dispute.

Police said the couple, parents of three children, lived on leased farmland near Bhusanur, where Goundi had been engaged in agriculture for several years.

Investigators said the accused was in an extramarital relationship with a woman from the same village, which often led to quarrels. On 31 October, during another altercation, Goundi allegedly strangled his wife with her saree in a fit of rage. He later buried her body in the field and reported her missing to mislead the police.

Following a complaint by the woman’s family, police launched a probe and discovered the crime during interrogation. The accused has been arrested and produced before the court, officials confirmed.

SP Addur Srinivasalu, DySP Tammaraya Patil, CPI Prakash Yathanur, and PSI Indumati visited the spot for inspection. A case has been registered at Nimbarga Police Station.
