Bengaluru, 7 November

In a unique protest, members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) sent knives and paper cutters to the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy’s residence on Saturday.

This comes days after Narayanaswamy said that Congress leaders should be “cut up and thrown into the Arabian Sea” during the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, End Anarchy’ protest.

“People normally send sweets on Deepavali,” Narayanaswamy told reporters after receiving the dozens of packages. “But now I'm getting knives. The Blinkit people are calling me because hundreds of orders have been sent to my address.”

NSUI State President Kirthi Ganesh has confirmed that the student wing members were the ones sending Narayanaswamy the gifts.

The NSUI leader further called upon party workers and leaders across the state to continue placing similar orders to the BJP leader's residence, stating that he had shared.

The BJP later lodged a police complaint with the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner against Congress's student wing.

The BJP has held the Congress State President, Chief Minister and Home Minister directly responsible for instigating the NSUI workers and promoting a "goonda culture."
