The BJP on Friday alleged large-scale corruption in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) after a group of veterinary doctors complained to the Vidhana Soudha Police over alleged irregularities in the recruitment of 400 veterinary officers in the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department.

The party claimed an audio clip had surfaced in which an alleged ₹80 lakh deal for securing a veterinary officer's post was discussed. Calling KPSC a "hub of corruption" under the Congress government, the BJP demanded suspension of the recruitment process, an independent high-level probe and action against those involved.

Leader of Opposition R Ashoka alleged there was "cash for jobs" in Karnataka and accused the Congress of turning government recruitment into an auction while shedding “crocodile tears” in Delhi over the NEET leak.

The recruitment examination was conducted in January 2026, with the final selection list published on 17 July. Complainants alleged that middlemen demanded ₹70-80 lakh from candidates in return for appointments and submitted audio clips to police. They also alleged some tests were conducted in resorts and questioned the marks awarded to certain candidates.

The complaint comes days after Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot suspended KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar over allegations that he facilitated the illegal selection of his two daughters as industrial extension officers.
